The Labyrinth of Jareth was amazing. It was so much fun going with a big group, most of whom were LoJ virgins. neither the skirt nor the mask is completely done, but I did make a lot of progress on both yesterday. I finished painting the skirt gores, but have 3 more of the little bridging spaces in between to finish (about 30 mins. each, with drying and prep time in between). I had a lovely (if not overly productive) weekend with Steve and his mom. Steve grilled up a porterhouse steak the size of my head on the 4th, we watched the first 2 discs of Rome season 1, I finished the belt to go with my LoJ dress, and put another three layers on the mask. The wire belt is... well, not done, but assembled. I'd say that it's about 85% done. It's basically three strands of three wires each (2 silver, 1 bronze) in a braided pattern, with another set of 3 wire strands making a border on each edge. On each little loop of the braided part, I cut a 1" length of wire, and am twisting that around to hold ( Read more... )

Last night, between Michael's and JoAnn's, I managed to buy the required fabric paint, cheap acrylic paints for the mask, some cheap new brushes (I accidentally left one of mine in water overnight, and it's getting king of gunked up with the fabric paint anyway), some silver leaf-shaped pendants for the ends of the beaded dangles on the belt, a ( Read more... )

I seem to be in a bullet point sort of mood today. Perhaps it's all those powerpoint presentations I've been looking at during the conference.

• Conference: very interesting, but tiring. Contemplating taking at least part of Monday off to recover, and maybe do some of the work on LoJ that I've not been doing in the evenings.
